But, Why?

Between gloriously crafted Instagram interiors accounts and the never ending well of gorgeous ideas and products (that are impossible to trace and buy!) that Pinterest provides, it’s so easy to get overwhelmed. But beyond this, I’m increasingly weary of the reasons behind why I like the things I like.

I’m determined to be conscious of why we are choosing the paints brands, lighting, flooring etc that we’re choosing. Is it because I actually think this looks better, aligns to our taste and lifestyle, our ethics, or will last longer? Or is it because the magazines, Pinterest and Instagram are telling me that’s what I’m supposed to want? Do I like this light fixture or am I choosing it so our future guests will think it’s ‘cool’? Do I like that paint colour and can afford the associated price tag, or am I more concerned with being able to add the Product as a hashtag to future Instagram posts?

I actually do not think that there’s a right or wrong answer.. I just want to make sure we are intentional with every decision we make and pound we spend so I can sleep soundly with those decisions. Especially if those decisions result in us moving into a beautifully kitted out house only to live off Ramen noodle packets for 6+ months. Then again, if it’s Indomie, maybe all isn’t lost after all.
